Retiree Update: Wayne Yoshioka

Wayne Yoshioka is a Hawai‘i Army National Guardsman who retired in 2007. He served in many positions with the Hawaii National Guard and a long Title 10 tour with the National Guard Bureau.
He currently works at Hawaii Public Radio as their political reporter for several years. You will see Wayne at the State Capitol whenever the legislature is in session.
His biography at the Hawai‘i Public Radio website reads:
“Wayne Yoshioka is an award-winning journalist who has worked in television, print and radio in Hawai‘i. He also has been on both sides of politics as a state departmental appointee and political/government reporter. He covered Hurricane Iwa (1982) as a TV reporter; was the State Department of Defense/Civil Defense spokesperson for Hurricane Iniki (1992); and, commanded a public affairs detachment in Afghanistan (2006). He has a master’s degree in Communication from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, and is a decorated combat veteran (Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and 22 other commendation/service medals). He resides in Honolulu.”

While researching this post, Retiree News ran across this KITV video with Wayne reporting on the 1983 University of Hawai‘i tuition hike. Thirty-three years ago and he looks very young.
