Taps: Richard Takashi Kano

Richard Takashi Kano, 86, of Wai‘anae, a retired Hawai‘i Army National Guard sergeant first class, passed away on May 17, 2015. He was born in Waialua.

He is survived by wife Ruby S., son Rick, daughters Rena Espiritu and Rae Kaneshiro, and four grandchildren.

Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30 at Mililani Mortuary-Waipio, makai chapel. Services: 10:30 a.m. Casual attire.

Contributing Editor Stephen Lum reports SFC Richard Kano, a MDay soldier, served as a mess steward with 229th Medical Company (Co B), 29th Support Battalion. Sergeant Kano also served as a mechanic at MATES in Wahiawā Armory (now renamed the Bowers Armory).
