Taps: Jarrett (Deke) Carr

Jarrett F. (Deke) Carr, 91 passed away September 18 at home. He was born in Berkeley, California on November 21, 1921, son of Grace and Sidney Carr.

His family moved to Hawai‘i in 1922. Jarrett was a WWII Veteran, a retired Hawaiian Airlines pilot and also a fighter pilot with the 199th Fighter Squadron in the Hawai‘i Air National Guard. He was owner of Carr’s Carpet Cleaners. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lou Esther, children Sharon Dailey (and Ted) of Portland, Oregon, James Carr (and Cathy) of Makawao, Maui, Barbara Uno (and James) of Kailua, and Steven Carr (and Brenda) of Kāne‘ohe. He is survived by 8 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
