  • People of Positive Influence in a Young Person’s Life<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Always Open to Growth and New Ideas from Hawaii’s Youth<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Living Examples of a Drug & Crime Free Life <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Mentor Qualifications:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • 21 Years or Older<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • You must be drug free.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Able to pass a police records check (no DUIs, felonies, sex crimes, and alcohol or substance abuse within the last 5 years).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The same gender as your Cadet. Cross-gender matches are allowed on a case-by-case basis if approved by the director.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • You must be cleared by a police records check (no DUIs, felonies, sex crimes and alcohol or substance abuse within the last 5 years).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Provide two favorable character references that we will contact.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Able to attend one in-person Mentor Training Workshop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Can communicate well and be willing to spend quality time with your Cadet in finding out how he or she is doing and if they need assistance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Willing to commit to mentoring your Cadet during residential and post-residential phase (17 months).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • You CANNOT<\/u><\/strong> be an immediate family member (brother\/brother-in-law\/stepbrother\/half-brother, sister\/sister-in-law\/stepsister\/half-sister, significant other of parents).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
