Ted served as the manager of the then-Kaua\u2018i Civil Defense Agency. Ben served as the chief of the Hawai\u2018i County Civil Defense Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both were presenting their organizations at the Hawai\u2018i Emergency Preparedness Executive Committee (HEPEC) meeting that was held on October 19, 2012. The then-Hawai\u2018i State Civil Defense coordinated these quarterly HEPEC meetings. The goal of these meetings was to have as many government and civilian organizations who would be involved with a emergency response together to share information.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:10px\"><em>The appearance of external hyperlinks did not constitute endorsement by Retiree News, this included the linked websites, information, products, or services contained therein.
