The 199th Fighter Squadron flew Sabres from 1954-1958. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many notiable fighter pilots began their flying careers during the Sabre era. Among these pilots were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>James Ashford, Jarret &#8220;Deke\u201d Carr, George Duncan,\u00a0\u00a0Paul \u201cAimoku\u201d Duvauchelle, Padraic \u201cPaddy\u201d Evans, Tai \u201cMynah\u201d Hong, Kurt Johnson, Richie \u201cKuni\u201d Kunichika, Marlin Little, David Lung, Robert Maguire, Harold Nagai, Edward Richardson,\u00a0Melvin Souza, Melvin Yen<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most continued into the F-102 Delta Dagger era and provided leadership in the squadron, wing and higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:10px\"><em>The appearance of external hyperlinks did not constitute endorsement by Retiree News, this included the linked websites, information, products, or services contained therein.
