{"id":3962,"date":"2014-02-12T08:00:41","date_gmt":"2014-02-12T18:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/retireenews.wordpress.com\/?p=3962"},"modified":"2024-10-22T21:34:19","modified_gmt":"2024-10-22T21:34:19","slug":"happy-birthday-201-ars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dod.hawaii.gov\/retireenews\/2014\/02\/12\/happy-birthday-201-ars\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy Birthday 203 ARS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Air Force activated the 203<sup>rd<\/sup> Air Refueling Squadron on February 12, 1992.&nbsp; Now in it\u2019s 21<sup>st<\/sup> year, the squadron has grown and it\u2019s missions expanded.&nbsp; Many of the original members have moved on or retired, but many memories remain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On February 12, 1994, the squadron hosted a first birthday celebration, a \u201cbaby\u201d luau in local tradition. The squadron auditorium (in their old facility) was the place.&nbsp; It was decorated in traditional style with the squadron members preparing the food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Master of Ceremonies was then <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>Maj. Stanley Osserman<\/b><\/span>.&nbsp; He introduced the guests, among them, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>Maj. Gen. Edward Richardson<\/b><\/span>, the Adjutant General and <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>Brig. Gen. David Rodrigues<\/b><\/span>, Commander of the Hawai\u2018i Air National Guard. Both spoke of the squadron\u2019s humble beginnings and the accomplishments of their first year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The squadron commander, the then <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>Lt. Col.
