Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_D._Waihee_III\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">John Waihee<\/span><\/a> mobilized the Hawaii National Guard to help with recovery operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three days into the recovery, <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>TSgt Dennis Clifton<\/strong> <strong>Dalen<\/strong><\/span> died in a motor vehicle accident. When driving to Kauai\u2019s North Shore, the truck he was driving flipped over as he tried to avoid live power lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dennis was only 46 years old and a power production technician with the 297th Air Traffic Control Flight, as it was named in 1992.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dennis was survived by his wife, Yong Sun Dalen. He is buried the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Veterans+Cemetery\/@21.3895379,-157.787793,15z\/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x4c774f3ac28ec529!8m2!3d21.3895379!4d-157.787793\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Hawai\u2018i State Veterans Cemetery<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>We lost a great individual that day<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:10px\"><em>The appearance of external hyperlinks did not constitute endorsement by Retiree News, this included the linked websites, information, products, or services contained therein.
