CISA’s Cyber Essentials

(Department of Homeland Security).  The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Cyber Essentials program is a guide for leaders of small businesses as well as leaders of small and local government agencies to develop an actionable understanding of where to start implementing organizational cybersecurity practices. Consistent with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and other standards, the Cyber Essentials are the starting point to cyber readiness.

Cyber attackers are becoming more indiscriminate in their choice of targets. They are finding a wider range of victims – including many smaller organizations that are less prepared than large companies to protect their own networks. In response, CISA released Cyber Essentials in late 2019 to help leaders of smaller businesses and government agencies develop an actionable understanding of where to start implementing organizational cybersecurity practices.

In January, the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) hosted the webinar, Cyber Essentials for the New Year. This presentation, which helps to inform viewers about CISA’s Cyber Essentials, is now available online.
