{"id":6603,"date":"2022-06-21T14:55:30","date_gmt":"2022-06-22T00:55:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dod.hawaii.gov\/hiema\/?p=6603"},"modified":"2026-05-01T14:05:56","modified_gmt":"2026-05-02T00:05:56","slug":"news-release-less-than-a-month-remains-for-kaua%ca%bbi-county-businesses-to-apply-for-sba-drought-loans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dod.hawaii.gov\/hiema\/news-release-less-than-a-month-remains-for-kaua%ca%bbi-county-businesses-to-apply-for-sba-drought-loans\/","title":{"rendered":"NEWS RELEASE: Less Than A Month Remains For Kaua\u02bbi County Businesses To Apply For Sba Drought Loans"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tuesday, June 21, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Release No. 2022-028<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HONOLULU<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 Time is running out for small nonfarm businesses in Kaua\u02bbi County to apply for U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loans for economic injury resulting from the drought that began there Sept. 28, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deadline to apply for the low-interest loans, intended to offset economic losses related to reduced revenue caused by drought, is July 19, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Small nonfarm businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations of any size may apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans of up to $2 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Director Tanya N. Garfield of the SBA\u2019s Disaster Field Operations Center-West said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/disasterloanassistance.sba.gov\/ela\/sfc\/servlet.shepherd\/version\/download\/068t000000cOWAlAAO\">news release issued Tuesday<\/a> that the loans may be used to pay for fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that cannot be paid because of the disaster&#8217;s impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSBA eligibility covers both the economic impacts on businesses dependent on farmers and ranchers that have suffered agricultural production losses caused by the disaster and businesses directly impacted by the disaster. Economic injury assistance is available regardless of whether the applicant suffered any property damage,\u201d Garfield added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The interest rate for businesses is 2.855%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The interest rate for private nonprofit organizations is 2%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Terms of up to 30 years are available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loan amounts and terms are set by the SBA and based on each applicant&#8217;s final condition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants may apply online, receive additional assistance or download <a href=\"https:\/\/disasterloanassistance.sba.gov\/ela\/s\/\">forms here<\/a>. Applicants may also call SBA\u2019s Customer Service Center at (800)\u00a0659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, please dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.
