{"id":6276,"date":"2022-03-08T15:49:44","date_gmt":"2022-03-09T01:49:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dod.hawaii.gov\/hiema\/?p=6276"},"modified":"2026-05-01T13:45:31","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T23:45:31","slug":"news-release-short-circuit-set-off-warning-siren-in-waialua-early-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dod.hawaii.gov\/hiema\/news-release-short-circuit-set-off-warning-siren-in-waialua-early-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"NEWS RELEASE: Short Circuit Set Off Warning Siren In Waialua Early Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">March 8, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Release No. 2022-015<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HONOLULU<\/strong> \u2014 An electrical fault caused a siren in the All-Hazard Statewide Warning System to sound for several minutes around 2 a.m. HST Saturday in the Waialua community of O\u2019ahu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The siren is part of the statewide network operated by the Hawai\u2018i Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA). A HI-EMA technician determined late Monday that the incident was caused by water inside an electrical cabinet. Evidence indicated that moisture inside the cabinet, possibly the result of a leaky door seal, short-circuited a switch and activated the siren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The siren is located along Goodale Avenue near the Waialua District Park swimming complex and baseball field.
