{"id":6222,"date":"2022-03-04T08:59:32","date_gmt":"2022-03-04T18:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dod.hawaii.gov\/hiema\/?p=6222"},"modified":"2026-05-01T13:44:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T23:44:19","slug":"news-release-hawaii-emergency-management-agency-to-discontinue-weekend-and-holiday-covid-19-data-reports-effective-march-5-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dod.hawaii.gov\/hiema\/news-release-hawaii-emergency-management-agency-to-discontinue-weekend-and-holiday-covid-19-data-reports-effective-march-5-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"NEWS RELEASE: Hawai\u2018i Emergency Management Agency To Discontinue Weekend And Holiday Covid-19 Data Reports, Effective March 5, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">March 4, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Release No. 2022-013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HONOLULU<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 The Hawai\u2018i Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA) will no longer update the online <a href=\"https:\/\/nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhiema-hub.hawaii.gov%2F&amp;data=04%7C01%7Cpkihara%40kikutv.com%7Cce96549552ce462ed41c08d9fe0de569%7Cf90fdc64d2794f449496bacd536de765%7C1%7C0%7C637820158080522881%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&amp;sdata=BhI2Add5Xrq4fRkyEqeAsSGRNgIPqRqIeiPEYpkZAPw%3D&amp;reserved=0\">COVID-19 Information Hub<\/a> on Saturdays, Sundays or State\/Federal holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The data on COVID-19 are provided to HI-EMA by the Hawai\u2018i State Department of Health (DOH) and include the following measures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Testing and positivity rate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New, cumulative confirmed, seven-day daily average, and 14-day reported cases<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Total fatalities and fatality rate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HI-EMA compiles the DOH data with hospitalization data from other sources to build the dashboard known as the COVID-19 Information Hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the omicron variant surge of COVID-19 has subsided and vaccinations have reduced the average severity of infections, daily case data has become less crucial to managing pandemic response. More weight is being given to data on hospitalization and similar measures reflecting COVID-19\u2019s effect on the healthcare system and its capacity. These data tend to shift less rapidly and reflect longer-term trends, allowing a safe transition to weekday-only reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The testing, case and fatality data remains available on the DOH <a href=\"https:\/\/nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhealth.hawaii.gov%2Fcoronavirusdisease2019%2Fcurrent-situation-in-hawaii%2F&amp;data=04%7C01%7Cpkihara%40kikutv.com%7Cce96549552ce462ed41c08d9fe0de569%7Cf90fdc64d2794f449496bacd536de765%7C1%7C0%7C637820158080522881%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&amp;sdata=Rf0zyE3jgczZkeiucDG4Xk%2F88%2BLgJ9HUCtIF8%2FM8aa0%3D&amp;reserved=0\">\u201cHawai\u2018i COVID-19 Data\u201d<\/a> page.
