{"id":4068,"date":"2019-08-07T10:38:08","date_gmt":"2019-08-07T20:38:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dod.hawaii.gov\/hiema\/?p=4068"},"modified":"2026-05-01T11:55:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T21:55:54","slug":"news-release-new-siren-testing-on-oahu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dod.hawaii.gov\/hiema\/news-release-new-siren-testing-on-oahu\/","title":{"rendered":"NEWS RELEASE: New Siren Testing On O&#8217;ahu"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">August 7, 2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HONOLULU \u2014 The Hawai&#8217;i Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA), together with the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management, will conduct siren testing at the following locations and times on Friday, August 9, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Kahana Bay Boat Ramp, Ka&#8217;a&#8217;awa<br>\u2022 Kualoa Ranch, K\u0101ne&#8217;ohe<br>\u2022 Wai&#8217;alae Beach Park, Kahala<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents nearby may hear the siren sound for 30-seconds to 3-minute intervals during the identified timeframe. Testing will include short blasts known as \u201cburps.\u201d During the tests, Emergency Management Officials and Technicians will be checking the functionality of the sirens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These sirens were installed as part of HI-EMA\u2019s ongoing Outdoor Warning Siren Program.
