What supplies do I need to be ready for a hurricane?
Posted on May 7, 2021 in Hurricane Preparedness, Hurricane- FAQBecause Hawai’i is so far from mainland warehouses and our supply chain may be disrupted by a hurricane or other disaster, emergency managers recommend that residents should be “2 Weeks Ready,” with a stockpile that includes:
- 14 days of shelf-stable food
- Water (one gallon per person per day)
- Medicine that members of your household need
- Hygiene items, including masks and sanitizer
- Emergency preparedness items including a crank- or battery-powered radio, flashlight and extra batteries, first-aid kit, manual can opener, etc.
Remember to include pet food and supplies if needed. Review your kit each year to make sure it meets the needs of your household.
