LIEUTENANT GENERAL PAUL NAKASONE (COMMANDING GENERAL, US ARMY CYBER COMMAND) INSPIRES HAWAII’S YOUTH IN CYBERSECURITY

Cyber Hui (local cybersecurity nonprofit), in partnership with the Young AFCEANs, hosted Lieutenant General Paul Nakasone, Commanding General, U.S. Army Cyber Command at the Oahu Veterans Center on October 4, 2017.  This special speaking event, attended by middle school, high school and college students engaged in cybersecurity, as well as their parents, teachers and other cybersecurity enthusiasts, listened attentively as LTG Nakasone clearly described the need for cybersecurity professionals both today and tomorrow and the vital role that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) plays.  LTG Nakasone, who was accompanied by several highly dedicated Army cybersecurity soldiers, went on to promote youth cybersecurity programs like CyberPatriot, CyberCamps, GenCyber, and CyberStart as critical components in engaging, inspiring and developing out youth in cybersecurity and other STEM-related fields.  This event provided an exceptional opportunity for our community members to meet and talk with the Army’s senior “cyber” General and was an inspiring venue for everyone that attended.
