CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition

ʻIolani School CyberRaiders CyberPatriot Team Receives Perfect Score for Round One in National Youth Cyber Defense Competition

Hawaii’s 106 Middle and High School CyberPatriot teams, along with the rest of the nation’s 5400+ teams, recently completed Round One of the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition sponsored by the Air Force Association. This national cybersecurity competition, which promotes defensive cyber operations, challenges each team with a grueling and engaging six-hour competition session that demands Windows, Linux Ubuntu and networking technical skill to be successful. While the competition was fierce during Round One, the ʻIolani School High School CyberRaiders emerged triumphant as the only Hawaii team that achieved a perfect score of 222 and is well postured to be selected to go to the National Finals Competition in April.

Round Two will be held during December 8-10 followed by the State Round during January 19-21. Teams compete for the top placement in Hawaii and the top performing teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Baltimore, MD for the National Finals Competition in April where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.

Congratulations to Coach/Mentor/Faculty Darryl Kimura and his CyberRaiders.  Good luck to all of Hawaii’s CyberPatriot teams!
