HAWAII ARMY NATIONAL GUARD PUBLIC AFFAIRS UNIT RETURNS

FROM SECOND AFGHANISTAN DEPLOYMENT

 

WHEN:  Thursday, Jan. 31, approximately 3:45 p.m.

 

WHAT:  Welcome home ceremony for 117th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment Soldiers

 

WHO: Members of the Hawaii Army National Guard (HIARNG) and their families

 

WHERE: 103rd Troop Command, Waiawa Armory, Pearl City Industrial Area

 

Twenty soldiers from the 117th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment were mobilized in February 2011 and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM after several months of training at Schofield Barracks.  They are scheduled to return to Hawaii today at a welcome home ceremony held at 103rd Troop Command’s Waiawa Armory. The public affairs unit, which produces print, video and online products has deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina and once before to Afghanistan.
