State Partnership Meeting between Indonesia and Hawaii.

Fostering positive foreign relations a key mission of the National Guard thru the State Partnership Program. Hawaii has partnership relations with Indonesia and the Philippines. Recently at Hawaii’s Department of Defense Joint Forces Headquarters Hawaii’s Deputy Adjutant General Brig. Gen. Joseph Kim Hosted a delegation from Indonesia containing Major General Hambali, Deputy Assistant to the Indonesia Armed Forces Commanders in Chief, and key members of his staff in support of the State Partnership Program.

General Hambali was briefed on the unique roles and capabilities of the Hawaii Army and Air National Guard, including C-RFP, the Air Operations Center, and Eagle Vision. Veterans Affairs, emergency management issues, and the Youth Challenge Academy where also discussed.

A robust dialog was held about the operational structure of the National Guard with its full time and traditional members, along with its role in domestic operations.

The visit included a tour of the Hawaii’s Joint Operations center inside diamond head crater, and an orientation flight aboard a black hawk helicopter. The delegation voiced their eagerness for future meetings and other opportunities to grow the partnership between Hawaii and Indonesia.
