Youth Challenge Academy

Cadets in the Hawai’i National Guard’s Youth Challenge Academy program based at Kalaeloa, O’ahu visited nearby Kauhale Preserve, managed by the Hoakalei Cultural Foundation and owned by Haseko Development. They learned of the coastal site’s history and plans for the future. They also helped care for the site so that native Hawaiian plants may have a chance to come back. This educational visit was coordinated by the Malama Learning Center as part of the Honouliuli Ahupua’a Project funded by the NOAA BWET program.
