UPDATE – First Annual Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony and National Vietnam Veterans Day Parade

Dear O’ahu VSO leaders and members you are all invited to attend the first annual Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony and National Vietnam Veterans Day Parade scheduled for 29 March, 2022.

Opening Ceremony

1600 VIP seating opens (reserved for Vietnam Veterans and Vietnamese community)

1615 – pre-ceremony music

1630 – Ceremony begins.  Ceremony will conclude with the playing of the Armed Forces Medley, featuring all of the service songs.  The music will be performed by the MARFORPAC Band and bands from the mainland.

 

Parade

1730 staging begins on Kalakaua Ave and Saratoga St.  IMPORTANT – Kalakaua Ave closes at 1730.  Parade officials will be on hand to direct parade entrants to their staging location.

1800-1900  National Vietnam Veterans Day Parade commences down Kalakaua Ave to Monsarrat St.  Reviewing stand will be located on Kalakaua Ave in front of the International Market Place.  All parade entries will be announced as they pass in review in front of the reviewing stand.

Parking is located at Kapiolani Park in lots 1&2.  A parking shuttle will run from kapiolani Park to the Ft DeRussy continuously from 1500-1630.  The parade ends at Kapiolani Park where cars will be parked.

We are planning to have three Waikiki Trolleys available to carry Vietnam veterans and wounded warriors in the parade.  The Trolleys will be staged on Kalakaua Ave following the ceremony.
