REPORT ON SECTION 1(b) OF ACT 128, SLH 2015

BY THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, OFFICE OF VETERANS’ SERVICES

In 2015, the State of Hawai’i legislature approved Act 128, SLH 2015.  Within Act 128, a response is required by the Office of Veterans’ Services.

Section 1(b) of Act 128 states:

(b) The director of the office of veterans’ services, in consultation with the policy advisory board on veterans’ services, shall submit a report to the legislature and the department of taxation no later than twenty days prior to the convening of each regular session providing the legislature and the department of taxation with the total number of disabled veterans who qualify under this section for the exemption from annual vehicle registration fees.”

Pursuant to Section 1(b) of Act 128 SLH 2015 Regular Session, we are providing the legislature and Department of Taxation with the Disabled Veterans’ Motor Vehicle Registration Fee Exemption Report which provides the total number of disabled veterans who qualify under this section for the exemption from annual vehicle registration fees.   The number of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) rated 100% disabled service connected veterans in the State of Hawaii who have their respective addresses listed in Hawaii as of November 2020 is 5,065.
