“Catch Me If You Can” Con Man Frank Abagnale Community Cyber Safety Presentation
Frank Abagnale, who the movie “Catch Me If You Can” starring Leonardo DiCaprio was based on, presented his incredible yet criminal life as a young teenager to a standing-room only audience on October 18 at the Japanese Cultural Center. During this period, he successfully posed as an airline pilot, masqueraded as a pediatrician, passed the Louisiana bar exam and worked as a state attorney, and escaped a high security prison. After being arrested, Frank Abagnale began working for the FBI rehabilitated, where he has been employed for over forty years.
For the second half of the presentation, he continued with a highly informative discussion on cybersecurity highlighting useful recommendations on being safe and secure while connected. These tips ranged from minimizing personal liability by using credit cards to shredding sensitive documents with high-security micro-cut shredders.
This presentation, which was sponsored by AARP Hawaii, was also offered on Maui on Saturday, October 21.
