FEMA 4282 Maui Flooding

President Barrack Obama signed a Major Disaster Declaration for Maui County on October 6, 2016. The declaration makes federal funding available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for assistance for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities damaged by severe storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides in Maui County.  This declaration covers the period of September 11-14, 2016.

The Public Assistance Program provides grants to state, local, and federally recognized tribal governments and certain private non-profit entities to assist them with the response to and recovery from disasters. Specifically, the program provides assistance for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and permanent restoration of infrastructure.

Additionally, Federal funding is available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide. FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program provides grants to States and local governments for long-term hazard mitigation project.
